The Building Code 2013 requires contractors to have a comprehensive policy for managing drug and alcohol issues in the workplace which includes mandatory drug and alcohol testing on Commonwealth funded projects. From October 2015, the new Building Code will have a significant impact on the construction industry. This is only mandatory for Commonwealth funded sites or where there is Commonwealth funding over the specified threshold.
