Training Services

Mend provides customised training solutions including manual handling,  sun protection, prevention of needle stick injuries, healthy work environments, work station ergonomics, occupational health and safety and risk management.

Mend Services employ a team of highly skilled multi-disciplinary enthusiastic health professionals with experience across a vast range of industries.   Our staff are certified trainers and our courses offer a broad range of topics including but not limited to:-

Workstation Ergonomics
A well designed workstation can help to reduce the risk of discomfort, pain and injury.   Mend train your staff to ensure they are aware of how to make the workplace safer for themselves and others.

Health and Well Being
Promote health and well-being in the workplace with education sessions.  These sessions are tailored to your specific requirements and can be designed for a small or large audience. 

Manual Handling
Available as one on one training or in a group presentation.   A trained Occupational Therapist will ensure manual handling is covered as part of your WHS needs.

Needle stick protection
Ensure your staff members are safe and informed with an education session on needle stick injuries.   Prevention is better than a cure.

Mental Health & Well Being in the Workplace
Maintaining workplace mental health has been proven to improve productivity, improve morale, reduce sick days and workers compensation claims.   Get the best out of your team.

Mental Health First Aid Training
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people the skills to help someone who they're concerned about.  Learn to spot the signs, provide help and guide a person towards support.   The training is about learning to approach a person and  listen, reassure them  and respond to the warning signs of depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use.  The training enables the Mental Health First Aider to develop an action plan that may  potentially prevent a crisis.   

Domestic Violence
With Domestic violence rates high in Australia, this training provides awareness on ways to recognise potential indicators of domestic violence, how to respond with appropriate care and how to provide appropriate support services.  

Return to Work Coordinator Training  
This training is deal when dealing with Work Health & Safety and Human Resources.   The training provides the foundation to understand the NSW  WorkCover scheme. 

Drug and Alcohol Impairment Training
Mend’s Drug and Alcohol Impairment training for Employees and Managers is designed to provide information about the risks associated with the use of alcohol and drugs in the workplace as well as understanding the rights,  responsibilities and legal obligations. 

Sun Protection
Sun Protection Training is designed to provide onsite training for employees and subcontractors to prevent the risk of skin cancer and prevention during the Summer.  

Heat Stress
This training is designed to provide onsite training for employees, managers and subcontractors to prevent the risk of heat stress for workers.  The training provides relevant information about heat stress, it’s symptoms, management and prevention at the workplace.   

WH&S for Line Managers
Mend can provide a training package for your line managers, tailored to your specific work site. This package explains the roles and responsibilities under the WHS Act for managers and supervisors.   Participants gain an understanding of what a PCUB is, what are serious injuries ,serious incidents and the procedure for managing these situations.   We overview WorkSafe investigations , what occurs with a breach of legislation, penalties with a breach and protecting yourself against WorkSafe prosecution .  This course is appropriate for all levels of managers, new supervisors and a refresher course.

Injury Management Training for Supervisors
This training overviews company requirements, supervisor obligations and worker obligations in dealing with workplace injuries . Participants will understand what is best practice injury management , how they can influence an injured workers return to work and benefits for all stakeholders.

Risk Management

This course educates your workers about their roles and responsibilities in ensuring safety in the work environment. The topics covered in this package include legal requirements, risk managements, risk management process and application to their current environment.

Anti-Bullying and Anti-Harassment in the Workplace
This course provides an overview of the Anti-Workplace Bullying and Anti-Harassment legislation and the potential impact on employers and employees.    The training includes an overview of the requirements for businesses to implement policies and procedures.    The participants will discuss the signs of bullying, harassment, risk factors and best practice management strategies.

Fatigue Management
With workers increasingly having to adjust their routine around demanding shift allocations it is important for workers to understand how to recognise the signs and effects of fatigue and how to manage it in the workplace.  There are common causes of workplace fatigue, signs and symptoms will be explained. Appropriate workplace controls and minimising the risk will be reviewed. 

Smoking  Awareness Training
With smoking as the leading cause of cancer deaths in Australia, this awareness training discusses the effects of smoking on the body, the effects of second hand smoking and the health benefits from quitting.
