On White Wreath Day we are asked to display a White Wreath or Wear White to Work in remembrance of those who have lost their lives.
Almost every Australian family is directly or indirectly affected by suicide.
On White Wreath Day we are asked to display a White Wreath or Wear White to Work in remembrance of those who have lost their lives. During May 2018 WorkSafe inspectors will be focusing on fall hazards in an effort to reduce the number of workers injured at housing construction sites.
Since 1 February this year, 40 serious incidents involving falls at construction sites have been reported to WorkSafe. The three construction fatalities that occurred in 2017 all involved falls. WorkSafe is continuing its focus on preventing falls from any height during construction work. Inspectors are out discussing fall prevention controls and checking that controls being used are adequate for the task and in accordance with the control of risk requirements.
We can only wonder, where in the skid steer loader’s operator instructions this configuration is detailed by the manufacturer.
Falls from height remains one of the biggest causes of death and serious injury to construction workers. Always use the right type of height access equipment for the task and location. Never take short cuts when working at height. If you hear someone say ‘Why don’t we just?’ - walk away, and if they preface it with ‘I got this great idea’ - run. Absolute Shocker is published by WorkSafe Victoria to promote safer work practices. It may be freely copied for such purposes. The road transport industry ranks among those that consistently record the highest number of work-related fatalities. |
