To help mitigate this, the regulator partnered with governments, businesses, industry and unions to develop a what it describes as a “widely supported, evidence-based plan” designed to improve workers’ outcomes and allow them to return to work in a timely, safe and sustainable manner. While each body previously worked separately on return to work issues, SWA Chief Executive Officer Michelle Baxter believes this new strategy “paves the way for ongoing national collaboration”. SWA said the strategy is designed for work and workplace influencers, including policymakers, workers compensation authorities, employers, union and industry groups, insurers and claims management organisations, treating health practitioners, workplace rehabilitation providers and other worker advocates.
